Virtual Console- Mario Bros.

The game that started it all! Mario Bros. was the first ever game with Mario (other than the original Donkey Kongs, where he was a villain). This is where the Italian plumber got his start as Nintendo's most well known character. This started the Mario merchandise and the stupid TV series! This is the king of all NES games. Mario Bros. made Nintendo rich and famous. Enough about its history as a game leader. This game was released in 1985, after the less well known Mario game: Mario Bros (a boring non-Mario-like arcade game which was Mario's real start). It was also the first Mario game with the "save Peach from Bowser," plot line. Since this game was created so close to Nintendo beginnings (ie. Its old!), there where a few glitches. One is called "The Minus World." It is entered by passing through a solid wall near the end of world 1-2 and was identical to worlds 2-2 and 7-2, except for when completed, it brought players back to the start. This game has been released on a total of 6 systems, 2 of those portable (ie. Gameboy). My rating- 8.5 out of 10!

MMOs---Why we hate them!

MMOs have been around for a long time. But, there are some aspects to them that EVERYONE hates! For example: Pay to Play. I understand that after years of hard work, companies like Blizzard (which makes the Diablo and WoW series) , want to make a profit. But why can't it just be pay one fee, not paying 15 dollars a month! This makes it hard for teenagers to convince their parents to let them play. Another stupid part of MMOs, mostly RPGs, is the lame look of some weapons. In Runescape, you cannot tell the difference between a short sword and a longsword. Weapons also sometimes have different names and effects, but look exactly like a different item. How can other players know what it is and possibly trade for it! I program, so I know for a fact that it would not take too long for them to change up the appearances a bit. Also, water textures absolutely stink! In some games you can't even go in water, while in others, when you do, you just walk in it. Why not make a swimming motion, duh? Finally, why is it always about killing? Can't there be some peaceful, nonviolent quests? I like killing evil dragons just as much as the next guy, but at a point, watching you're character smack a bad guy with a virtual sword becomes boring and aimless. MMOs need some non-battle related items and skills. Speaking of aimlessly attacking, is it just me or does having no control of how you're character fights boring. Pointing and clicking can get really boring! So, these are the reasons why MMOs need to change!

This is The Video Game Experts first battle. In battles, two games will be reviewed and the better one will win the fight. So, today's battle is between EA game's The Godfather:Blackhand Edition or Radical Entertainment's Scarface: The World Is Yours. Let the battle's begin!

Final Review
So, it seems as if today's winner is winner is Scarface:The World Is Yours with a six point lead! Godfather may have a cool story plot and everyone loves the movie series, but it wasn't a good enough game. There should have been more weapon choices. And while the Godfather may have a few cool cars, Scarface has tons of fast and powerful cars and even the choice of purchasing and driving speedboats! Another strong point about Scarface is the option to decorate and upgrade your house. You can even hire maids and eventually have people live with you. In a close battle, it appears that Scarface: The World Is Yours has came out victorious.

Preveiw: Super Smash Bros. Brawl

"Another great addition to the series," seems to be what everyone is saying. Smash Bros. Brawl doesn't have just one strong point; the entire game is great. One thing Nintendo fans will love is the huge number of new and unique characters to choose from. Some examples are Sonic, Snake from the Metal Gear series, Pikman and Olmar, Meta Knight and King Dedede from the Kirby series, and of course, the extremely anticipated, Zero-Suit Samus. This game also has new features such as wide screen display and Wi-Fi for online play. A lot of people were afraid that the sequel wouldn't include the beloved trophies from the Gamecube version "Super Smash Bros. Melee." They can stop freaking out. This game has trophies and another type of collectible. Stickers. These stickers will fall whenever you play the game. They also can be used in single player mode as power-ups. Another great addition is the new items. There most of the items from previous installments and yes, there's more! A new type of hammer called the golden hammer which is even more destruvtive than the original one, a type of fighter jet called a Dragoon, and Assist Trophies that when used have another character come out and help you out. And of course, the Pokeball with all new Pokemon like Deoxys, Groudon, Celebi, and the rare Mew. Even the stages are amzing. Theres even a PictoChat stage with ever changing doodles, just like a real Nintendo DS. And if you ever get bored of the over 20 stages, create your own! Finally, there is a stage editor. The stages you make can even go on their Wi-Fi board where there will even be a daily stage. So, this game is apparantly great. My rating- a 9.5 out of 10!

Reveiw: Runescape-Summoning Skill

Yes! A new skill in Runescape done after over 3 months of waiting (if you've never played Runescape, its a MMORPG. Check it out at http://www.runescape.com/). But, was the wait really worth it. Summoning is a cool skill where you summon creatures to fight for you and create creature "pouches," that cost way too much. Today, they changed the prices of some items needed to perform the "spells," but it is still extremely costly. Also, you need to be an extremely high level to summon anything awesome, and most people have a life. This, by far, was one of Jagex's (the company who makes Runescape) mess ups. They could have made it so much better by losing the restrictions and all the dumb materials needed to make creatures. The only good thing about this update is that you can finally have a pet, other than a cat. My rating on this update- 4 out of 10.
